The Reason

A complete metamorphosis of an unexpected small inheritance and a VW van.
In the memory of two spirits set free on a wild Welsh wind during the October of 2014.

Arthog Falls and Mountain Trails

My human and Mark went for a very early morning bike ride, more hills more mud! Looks like I am going to be carry dirty bikes again, my human shows me no respect.
Arthog Waterfalls were often visited by human Wilfrid although he drove The Hillman Husky, Bettsey, up a very steep lane to where a lower part of them could be reached on a short path. my humans decided to explore them all from bottom and high into the mountains, very steep. Little Phoebe braved the expedition on one of their backs. I could have shown them where human Wilfrid used to park and saved their legs.
Up, up, up.
Great views and light, all that Human Wilfrid loved along with the abundant water running off the mountains and after all of the rain there was plenty of full streams.

A Winters Tale

I said it would snow! The earths as hard as iron and so are the ducks.
It did not deter my humans and they drove me miles climbing a steep single track road high into the mountains, parked me up and left me whilst they went a long walk. Driving back down these narrow lanes I heard them mention what good practise for visiting Scotland so sounds like I will be faced with more of this rough treatment.
On their return They did all sit and have hot drinks made by me in my comfortable warm interior.
Still the views are good.
Then what an evening with contrasting skies down Mawdach Estuary. human Wilfrid loved this estuary and I can see why.

Steam Power

I don't think I will ever understand humans. They abandon my comfort and style for a Puff a Billy called Sherpa, what sort of name is that? Even more confusing they seemed to enjoy it in the slow drafty, rattling coaches, very strange!
Blue skies, Wales?

I overheard my human telling all his children that his Welsh holidays with human Wilfrid were always sunny. Hmmmm.......

Blowing a Gale

I am getting the cobwebs blown out of my chassis by a strong South Westerly, covered in salt I hope my human knows what it's doing to my body. Human Wilfrid loved rough seas and would often take his family to be splashed by huge waves, today's sea was one of these.
These humans are so strange, they came back to the cottage to dry out then made a selection of boats and had races in the garden stream. As far as I could see they all got much wetter.
The garden stream, not quite Oxford and Camberidge race on the Thames.

One hour later and before breakfast.

My humans braved the rain and wind on my two wheel friends for an early morning ride around the area.
They passed the spot that Human Wilfrid and Peggy were taken by a wild wind much like today.
Barmouth Oak Bridge can be seen and views along the Mawdach Trail.

Wet wet wet (and not that group)

My humans went a walk, madness! I have never seen such a bunch of drips.
My human and Mark then went a long exploration to find the Mawdach Trail. This is my human excited at finding the trail and pointing out Barmouth Bridge to Mark who was less than impressed in this Welsh rain that goes up and down. Human Wilfrid loved Welsh rain and would drive his family in a steamed up car to visit castles or sit on sea fronts with the heater on. My human seems more adventurous.

The Chippy Saga

What a wait!!! I was parked for ages waiting for my humans to return with their much looked forward to fish and chips. The queue was miles long, the wait eternal, the arguments in side rourcus, the smell delicious, the final result? Nothing. At least they won't be smelling out my interior. Fairbourne Chippy is a dissaster! A Chippy that takes your order and money, makes you wait hours and then runs out of fish even though they took your order. I had some very hungry humans to transport.

A world of little things.

Here I am by the sea and surrounded by mountains. Other than the mountains and beach everything is small, narrow roads, small shops, lots of small children with buckets and shades (and even spades) and even a very small steam train.
All my humans children and grandchildren are here and there's another of those small engines.
Blue sky! That won't last long this is Wales.
I knew I should have had four wheel drive, I am so misstreated. Half a mile down a steep narrow dirt track, My humans will regret this if it snows and it will I can feel it in my oil.
The final destination, very remote.

Up and Downs of life

Running slick and on my way to Wales. These are human Wilfrids famous big dippers which used to make all his family feel their stomachs churn. My human thinks they have made them less steep, l say it's my suspension.

Touch and go

My human keeps struggling with gears on occasions and so decided to get me fixed before going up north. Some small adjustment today, a bit touch and go because if this does not improve things then I'm in for a big procedure. Sounds expensive. Human Wilfrid was an engineer he would have probably enjoyed seeing my complicated gear system.

Mad as a March Hare.

The first real feeling of Spring and my humans take me and their bikes to Moira once a dark industrial landscape, now a reclaimed forested area. It was busy on the small car park and I was driven around three times before finding a space in the sun.
They met their son and his family fo a ride around the Stick Man Trail. I think my human and his son then went for a five mile Aerobic work out on the technical trails. Following in the footsteps of human Wilfrid a keen cyclist in his early years.
